If you've been feeling stiff, tight, or like your body just needs a good stretch, Deep Stretch might be exactly what you're looking for.
This class at Total Being Yoga focuses on slowing down enough to give your muscles and joints some attention. Rather than moving through a continuous flow, we'll spend more time exploring stretches and finding ways to create a little more ease in the body.
Deep Stretch uses a combination of yoga postures, gentle movement, and longer-held stretches to work on flexibility and mobility throughout the body. Your instructor may focus on areas such as the hips, hamstrings, shoulders, and back, with time to explore each posture and adjust it to suit your needs.
Some stretches may be seated or reclined, while others may involve standing or kneeling. Props and modifications help make the practice more accessible. The goal isn't to push as far as possible. It's to work with your body's natural range of motion and gradually create more freedom of movement.
Deep Stretch is a good fit for students who want to improve flexibility, address everyday stiffness, or balance out more active exercise. It's also a great introduction to yoga for anyone who prefers a class focused on stretching rather than a traditional flowing sequence.
You don't need to be flexible to attend. In fact, that's one of the reasons many people come!
Deep Stretch meets Fridays from 9:30 to 10:45 AM with Emily. An evening Deep Stretch is also offered Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 PM with Lane.
