Restorative Yoga is one of the few places where doing less is actually the point. There's no need to work toward a pose, build a sweat, or even stretch deeply. Instead, we use comfortable, supported postures to give the body an opportunity to rest.
At Total Being Yoga, our Restorative classes offer a quiet space to step away from the demands of everyday life and spend some time simply being still.
Restorative Yoga uses props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks to support the body in comfortable positions for several minutes at a time.
Unlike a traditional stretching class, the goal isn't to increase flexibility or find a deeper sensation. It's to reduce muscular effort, allow the body to feel supported, and encourage relaxation.
Your instructor may incorporate gentle breathing exercises, guided relaxation, or moments of quiet reflection throughout class. There are fewer postures and longer periods of rest, giving you time to settle without feeling rushed.
Restorative Yoga is for anyone who could use a little more rest in their life. It's a wonderful option during stressful or demanding seasons, alongside a more active yoga practice, or whenever you're looking for a quieter experience.
No yoga experience or flexibility is needed. Most of the practice takes place on the floor, with props arranged to help you feel comfortable and supported.
Restorative Yoga meets Thursdays from 7:15 to 8:15 PM with Haley.
